Air
The GEWA AIR series incorporates the best ideas, developments and innovations from decades of case manufacturing. Each case is a masterpiece of engineering art and at the same time, a fine piece of design.
All models are manufactured with the proprietary GEWA Air Shell Technology. It guarantees an enormously high resistance to breakage, as impacts are absorbed by slight deformation, similar to cars. In addition to this stability, the special manufacturing process ensures highly effective insulation against temperature fluctuations and weather. Due to the materials used, the cases are enormously light, despite their resistance.
In detail:
The outer skin and inner shell of the GEWA Air-Cases are moulded independently of each other. This results in tremendous possibilities for the surface design and interior decoration in the first production step.
Then the two shells are joined together in a special process using 2K foam under pressure. This separation means that neither mechanical loads nor temperature fluctuations can reach the valuable contents of the case, but the outer shell is still flexible enough to absorb shocks.

GEWA AIR ERGO is the perfect protection for the instrument AND the person carrying it.
Thanks to GEWA Air Shell Technology, we were able to create a case design that was previously unthinkable. A case was developed that is 100% optimised for ergonomic carrying.
Directly on the body, violin cases are usually carried in three different ways:
- Upright: in the underground or on the bus, where there is never enough room.
- Over the shoulder: e.g. on the way, on foot from home to rehearsal.
- On the back: e.g. when cycling.
Together with the violinist Rainer Wilke, we took a close look at the most common challenges and looked for solutions.
1. Smaller people have to constantly lift their arm or shoulder when carrying the case upright so that it doesn't drag on the floor when they reposition it.
Our solution: The underground handle is placed well below the top edge of the case so that it automatically lifts further off the ground.
2. No regular case can really be carried close to the body while hanging over the shoulder. The higher imbalance is transferred to the muscles and causes tension.
Our solution: The shape of the ERGO is optimised to fit the body as comfortably as anatomically possible.
3. When cycling, the case often restricts head movement by blocking the helmet to the rear. This is annoying and dangerous.
Our solution: The open space on the handle gives the head enough room to move freely, even with a cycling helmet on.
